According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City reached out to Barcelona to discuss the potential transfer of left-back Alejandro Balde. However, Barcelona declined their proposal.
Alejandro Balde has emerged as a pleasant surprise in La Liga. The talented Spanish defender has been performing exceptionally well for Barcelona since the 2022/23 season, receiving increased opportunities from coach Xavi Hernandez.
As a result, the 19-year-old has garnered significant attention during the summer transfer window. Nonetheless, Barcelona has not entertained any offers as Balde is an integral part of their long-term plans.
Several top clubs expressed interest in acquiring Balde’s services, but their attempts were futile. Manchester City, who recently won the treble, approached Barcelona to negotiate a potential transfer.
However, just like other interested teams, Barcelona refused to engage in discussions as Balde is deemed indispensable in Xavi Hernandez’s squad. In fact, Barcelona is already preparing a contract renewal offer for him.
