Lukaku from Chelsea likely to be loaned to Roma

Lukaku From Chelsea Likely To Be Loaned To Roma

Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement to loan Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to Serie A team Roma, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday. According to the Italian sports daily, Roma will pay Chelsea €5.8 million for the loan, while Lukaku is set to receive an annual salary of €7.5 million. Lukaku is expected to arrive in Rome on Tuesday to undergo a medical examination.

The move to Roma will see Lukaku reunite with his former coach Jose Mourinho, who previously worked with the striker during their time at Chelsea and Manchester United. Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for a fee of €115 million from Inter Milan, having first joined the London club in 2011 and later playing for Everton, Manchester United, and Inter.

During the previous season, Lukaku spent time on loan at Inter Milan, where he scored 14 goals. Roma has been active in the transfer market, already securing the loan signing of Iranian international Sardar Azmoun from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as midfielders Leandro Paredes and Renato Sanches from Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition, Roma made a long-term acquisition in June by signing Houssem Aouar from Lyon on a five-year contract. The team has only earned one point from their first two Serie A matches so far.
