Human Rights Watch condemns summary executions of

71 people have been documented summarily executed by the Malian army. In Torno, for example, two soldiers had been killed by an explosion and the military convoy immediately fell over the village. They killed 14 people. Looks like a retaliatory attack. Among the victims was the village chief, who was over 80 years old, a 16-year-old girl. They took them to the place where the mine had exploded and they were executed on the spot. We also documented the serious case that occurred in early March where 37 people who had been detained in the Diabaly camp. They were taken by two trucks 11 kilometers north and executed and burned.
