Kessie's Perplexing About-face: Why Did She Choose To Stay At Barca Instead?

According to Saudi sports publication ‘Arriyadiyah’, Franck Kessie, the Barcelona midfielder, has officially signed his contract with Saudi Pro-League team Al-Ahli. It is reported that Barcelona has reached an agreement with Al-Ahli, allowing Kessie to complete his move to the Saudi side. The news outlet stated that Kessie, who is an Ivory Coast international, will arrive in Jeddah within the next 24 hours.

After undergoing a medical examination, Kessie is expected to join the squad and participate in Al-Ahli’s first match of the Saudi Pro-League, which will take place on Friday against Al Hazm. Kessie, who joined Barcelona as a free agent from Milan last season, aimed to bring physicality and an attacking threat to the team’s midfield. During his time at Barcelona, he made 24 appearances in La Liga, contributing with one goal and one assist.

At Al-Ahli, Kessie will join a number of players who have also left Europe’s top leagues, including Edouard Mendy, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Allan Saint-Maximin, who have all made moves to the Premier League.
