Joao Felix sacrificed €17 million to join Barcelona

Joao Felix's Decision: Barcelona Prevails Over Liverpool, Man Utd, And Villa

According to the newspaper ‘A Bola’, Joao Felix has sacrificed nearly €17 million in order to fulfill his lifelong aspiration of playing for Barcelona.

The Portuguese footballer had to make a significant financial commitment to realize his childhood dream of joining Barca, giving up a total of €17 million. As per the report, Joao Felix was earning approximately €6 million net per year from Atletico Madrid, who covered his wages until August. However, starting now, Barcelona will pay him a total of €400,000 net until the season’s end.

This season alone, Joao Felix will forego nearly five million euros. Additionally, Atletico compelled him to extend his contract until 2029 as a condition for loaning him to Barcelona. Consequently, he will have to accept a reduced salary of three million net from next season onwards, instead of the previous six million. This adjustment means that instead of earning 24 million net until 2029, the player will receive only 12 million net.

Expressing his joy, Joao Felix stated, “Everyone is aware of how delighted I am to be here. It has always been my goal to play for this club, ever since I was a child watching Barcelona. I am here to contribute and help make this season a remarkable one,” acknowledging his recent move to the Catalan giants.
