The greatest # 1 complement for hair loss, says dermatologist

Healthy hair needs iron, folic acid and zinc to continue to grow thick and strong: three micronutrients commonly found in multivitamins, says Vergara-Wijangco, noting that it is important to talk to a doctor before adding new vitamins to your regular routine.

For those who are already taking a multivitamin regularly, Vergara-Wijangco says so Adding a fatty acid supplement to your hair growth routine can also help.

“Omega-3 helps your body fight inflammation, an underlying cause of many conditions. Premature hair loss can also be related to inflammation. Omega-6, on the other hand, is important for overall skin health, which can benefit the scalp,” she explains. adds that, as is the case with multivitamins, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional before taking a new fatty acid supplement.

However, there is one popular supplement that Vergara-Wijangco says may not give the results that people think it does: biotin.

“If you eat a balanced diet, you are unlikely to be low on biotin. But complementary forms of biotin have increased in recent years, thanks in part to marketers promising more energy and better hair growth with such products,” Vergara-Wijangco explains. “While biotin helps break down enzymes in your body, there is little evidence that it can help with thinning hair.”
