Former governor of the Hiiraan region pays visit to Dhusamareb for a meeting with President Mohamud
On Friday, September 22, 2023, a delegation comprising of Ali Jeyte Osman, the former governor of Hiiraan region, visited Dhusamareb, the capital of the Galmudug administration. Their purpose was to hold discussions with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Reliable sources from the government have informed us that President Mohamud and Jeyte will be focusing on the implementation of agreements they had previously made in Mahas, Hiiraan region earlier this month.
After their meeting with President Mohamud in Mahas, the former governor and politicians from the Hawadle community announced their determination to resume military operations against al-Shabab in the Hiiraan region. On September 9th, the politicians displayed the presence of army vehicles and substantial forces, indicating their readiness for a major anti-al-Shabab campaign in Mahas. Nevertheless, the operation is yet to commence.
Politicians from the Hiiraan region, who had opposing political stances in the past, have now joined hands to strengthen military operations under the leadership of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s federal government.
