Ferran Torres emerges as top goal scorer for FC Barcelona in 2023-2024 season
Ferran Torres has emerged as a key substitute for Barcelona this season. In their last two La Liga games, he came off the bench and scored twice, making him the top scorer for Barcelona in their first three matches, despite only playing for 32 minutes. His impressive performance started in the pre-season, where he has proven to be indispensable for Xavi Hernandez.
The upcoming 2023-24 season could be a breakthrough for Ferran Torres at Barcelona. He has started his third season with the Catalan side in exceptional form, scoring in both games he has played so far as a substitute.

He secured Barcelona’s victory against Cadiz with a goal in injury time, after being on the pitch for less than 10 minutes. He also equalized for his team against Villarreal, this time with just five minutes of play, in a thrilling seven-goal match.
With these performances, he currently holds the title of Barcelona’s top scorer, despite playing only 32 minutes in La Liga. When considering his impressive form during the pre-season, he has scored a total of five goals in just over 160 minutes – a remarkable improvement from the previous season.
Although he is under contract until 2027, there were speculations that Ferran Torres might leave Barcelona this summer, just one and a half years after his €55 million move from Manchester City in January 2021.
However, his determination to succeed at Barcelona has played a significant role in his turnaround. He expressed his desire to “earn” his place under Xavi Hernandez multiple times during the summer and has been proving himself on the field.
As Barcelona prepares to face Osasuna in Madrid on Sunday, it is likely that Ferran Torres will again start on the bench. However, he will be eager to continue his impressive form if given the opportunity to come on and make an impact when his team needs a goal.
