Fernandes shines as Manchester United prevail against Burnley at Turf Moor
Manchester United made a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the Premier League over the weekend. The Red Devils managed to break their losing streak and secure a 1-0 victory against Kompany’s team.
Despite their win, Manchester United is still trailing the leaders by nine points. However, this victory relieved some of the pressure on Erik ten Hag, the team’s manager, after three consecutive defeats. The turning point in the match came just before halftime when Bruno Fernandes showcased his world-class skills by volleying home a pass from Jonny Evans.
Although the Red Devils had to endure a few tense moments at Turf Moor, with Zeki Amdouni hitting the post in the first half, Burnley is yet to secure a win since their return to the Premier League.
In another game, struggling Everton managed to secure their first league win of the season and climb out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 victory against Brentford. Abdoulaye Doucoure opened the scoring for Everton in the sixth minute, but Mathias Jensen equalized for Brentford against the run of play. However, James Tarkowski restored Everton’s lead with a header from Dwight McNeil’s corner in the 67th minute. Substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealed Everton’s long-awaited victory with a composed finish four minutes later.
Luton, in their first-ever Premier League season, earned their first point in a 1-1 draw against Wolves at home. Wolves were reduced to 10 men when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was sent off in the 39th minute. Pedro Neto still managed to put Wolves in front early in the second half, but Carlton Morris’ penalty saved a point for Luton.
Crystal Palace and Fulham played out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park, keeping both teams in the top half of the table.
