The assembly was attended by Mesfin Tasew and Frehiwot Tamiru, heads of the Ethiopian Street Infrastructure Authority (ERIA) and Ethio Telecom.

“The delegation is the first of its stature as a high-level federal government body to visit Mekele in two years,” the assertion stated. “This gesture is an attestation that the peace agreement is on track and progressing,” it stated.

The delegation was greeted by insurgent authorities, together with their spokesman Getachew Reda, confirmed Tigrayan images, reviews AFP.

Tigray Individuals’s Liberation Entrance [TPLF] have been at odds with Ethiopia’s authorities over historic grievances and the groups agreed to reconcile. The talks have been engineered by the African Union below former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Mekelle was technically disconnected from the world with important companies shut down for the 2 years. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been accused of failing to unite the nation he inherited when it was secure, with critics accusing him of dictatorship.
