This follows a US announcement issued to warn its residents of a possible terrorist assault in Tanzania’s industrial capital.
The US Embassy in Dar Es Salaam warned Americans towards frequenting areas populated by Westerners in Dar es Salaam and different areas of the East African state.
The US announcement reads: “Places frequented by US citizens and other Westerners in Dar es Salaam and elsewhere in Tanzania remain attractive targets for terrorists planning to carry out attacks. Terrorist groups could strike with little or no warning, targeting hotels , embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, police stations, places of worship and others.”
According to the announcement, Americans have been counseled to preserve a low profile, be conscious of their environment and continually exercise security precautions.
“U.S. citizens traveling abroad should always have an emergency preparedness plan,” the U.S. Embassy stated.
However, safety forces in Tanzania stated that the state is free from any type of terrorist acts and the security and safety of the state is ensured.
David Misime-Tanzanian police spokesman in a announcement stated the pressure urged residents to stay calm and proceed with their every day things to do.
In 2021, a terrorist killed 4 individuals – three cops and a personal safety guard in Dar es Salaam. The officers manned the guardhouse of the French Embassy.
