SNA arrests six clan elders in Hiiraan

Beledweyne (AX) – The Somali National Army’s fifth Battalion of the twenty seventh Division arrested six conventional elders within the Hiiraan location on Monday. The guys had been accused of constructing a cope with Al Shabaab.
The elders had been accused of violating federal authorities directives to not contact or cooperate with Al Shabaab.
These elders had been arrested for handling the Al-Shabaab group and for journeying to areas underneath the group’s manipulate in western Beledweyne. According to the army, the elders agreed with Al Shabaab to withdraw their clan forces from the Al Shabaab offensive.
Government forces arrested some elders in a deliberate operation in Hiiraan’s Halgan district, whilst others had been stated to be arrested in Beledweyne.
On Sunday, the army courtroom sentenced three conventional clan elders to 5 years in jail for collaborating with Al Shabaab.
The conventional elders, Omar Mohamed Jimale Adan (Omar Faninte), Ali Ahmed Hayle Araalle (Ali Yare) and Sugaal Warsame Ali Yarow, had been arrested in late December after defying a authorities directive to not contact or cooperate with Al Shabaab militants.
The three guys traveled to Haradhere district – then an Al Shabaab stronghold – and signed an eight-point settlement with the militants.
One of the agreements was to oppose the Somali authorities’s army offensive in opposition to Al Shabaab.
