Raid in opposition to Oromo rebels profitable – Ethiopia’s military

Wednesday, January 4, 2023: The Ethiopian military says it has “liberated several localities” from the insurgent Oromo Liberation Military (OLA) in operations within the Oromia area, the navy posted on Fb on Tuesday.

An unnamed senior military officer stated “security forces have launched a coordinated operation to stop the subversion of Shene and ensure stability in the region”.

The report stated the military was finishing up a mission within the western and japanese Guji zones and the Borena zones of southern Oromia.

“The operation goals to annihilate Shene [OLA} and making a secure area,” stated Haru Germa, a senior official in East Guji Zone.

The OLA, which claims to battle for the appropriate of ethnic Oromo individuals, was designated a terrorist group in 2021.
