Puntland’s president says they’re prepared for a “military and political solution” to the Las Anod scenario

Garowe (AX) – Puntland state president Stated Abdullahi Deni stated his area is prepared for a “military and political solution” to the scenario in Las Anod, a city in Northern Somalia’s east disputed between breakaway Northern Somalia and Puntland.

At a press convention in Garowe on Monday, President Deni dismissed criticism that he was preoccupied with electoral issues because the safety scenario in Las Anod drastically deteriorated final week.

Deni stated the politicians and intellectuals of Las Anod should come to a united trigger concerning town’s scenario.

“If Northern Somalia does not accept the calls of the people of Las Anod, who demand that Northern Somalia leave the city and the entire Sool region, Puntland is ready to take all possible measures,” Deni stated.

Residents of the city of Las Anod started fleeing their houses on Sunday following the continued clashes between anti-government protesters and safety forces in Las Anod, the executive capital of the Sool area.
