Ambassador Mohammed El-Amine Souef is the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Fee (SRCC) and the Head of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). He was appointed on 1 September 2022 by the Chairperson of the African Union Fee.

In his function as SRCC and Head of Mission, Ambassador Souef oversees the army, police and civilian parts of ATMIS. He additionally leads ATMIS for the implementation of the Somalia Transition Plan (STP), which outlines the method in the direction of a gradual handover of safety tasks to the Somali safety forces by December 2024.

Till his appointment as SRCC, Ambassador Souef was the Head of the Gao Regional Workplace of the United Nations Multidimensional Built-in Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
