Deadly attack claims lives of five individuals in Hiiraan region

Beledweyne (AX) – Tragedy struck a restaurant located in the Jalalaqsi district, approximately 160 kilometers north of Mogadishu. A suicide bomber unleashed chaos, claiming the lives of five individuals on a Thursday afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses, District Commissioner Nur Dhere and other members of the district administration narrowly escaped the attack after leaving the restaurant just moments before the explosion.

“The blast occurred mere minutes after Nur had left his place at the restaurant. However, well-respected figures within the district, including Mohamed Ahmed Dhagacade and Farah Boosey, tragically fell victim to this attack,” one witness painfully recalled.

While no specific group has claimed responsibility, it is worth noting that al Shabab frequently directs its wrath towards hotels and restaurants. This incident resembles a previous occurrence in January, when a devastating car bomb, attributed to al-Shabab, led to multiple fatalities within the district.
