Chelsea makes official signing of French defender Disasi from Monaco
Chelsea made an announcement on Friday regarding their latest signing. They have acquired the services of French international defender, Axel Disasi, from Monaco. Disasi has agreed to a six-year contract with the club.
Disasi, who has played in 130 matches in Ligue 1, has also represented France four times and was a part of their squad during the World Cup last year. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be around €45 million. This signing comes in the wake of Wesley Fofana’s injury, providing Chelsea with an additional option at right centre-back.
Expressing his excitement, Disasi said, “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining this prestigious club. I am immensely proud to become a part of this wonderful family, and I am determined to achieve great things here and win titles. I have high ambitions and I am eagerly looking forward to experiencing the enthusiasm of the fans.”
Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the co-sporting directors, commended Disasi’s skill and international recognition, stating, “Axel has consistently demonstrated his quality in multiple seasons in France, which has rightly earned him international recognition. He is now ready to take the next step in his career, and we are delighted that he has chosen Chelsea.”
Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, is currently revamping the squad after the club’s disappointing performance in the Premier League last season. Their upcoming season will kick off with a home game against Liverpool on August 13.
