Breaking News: Over 1,000 Casualties Reported as Earthquake Strikes Morocco
Various governments worldwide have expressed their condolences and solidarity with Morocco in the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi:
“We pray for the swift recovery of all those injured. The global community stands alongside Morocco during this difficult time, and we are prepared to provide any necessary assistance.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin:
“Please accept my sincere condolences for the tragic consequences of the devastating earthquake in the central regions of your country. Russia shares the concern and grief of the friendly Moroccan people. Kindly convey words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by this natural disaster.”
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan:
“We stand in solidarity with our Moroccan brothers and sisters, offering our full support during this challenging day,” he conveyed in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. In a separate statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry declared its readiness to provide all types of assistance “to heal the wounds caused by the earthquake in Morocco.”
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock:
“Disturbing images are reaching us from Morocco. Joining the Moroccan people, we mourn the victims of this terrible earthquake. Our thoughts are with them and all those involved in the search and rescue efforts, as well as those fighting for the lives of the numerous injured.”
French President Emmanuel Macron:
“We are deeply shocked by the terrible earthquake in Morocco. France is prepared to assist with immediate aid responses.”
Spain’s Acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez:

Taiwan:
Taiwan’s fire department has assembled a team of 120 rescuers on standby, ready to depart for Morocco as soon as they receive instructions from Taiwan’s foreign ministry.
United Arab Emirates:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement expressing sincere condolences to the government and people of Morocco, as well as the families of the victims. They also send their wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured.

United Kingdom:
The UK is committed to assisting Morocco “in any way possible,” stated Foreign Minister James Cleverly on Saturday, following an earthquake that claimed the lives of more than 630 people. “Heartbreaking news of a significant earthquake near Marrakesh, Morocco,” he tweeted. “We are ready to support our Moroccan friends in any capacity.”
