Wolverhampton Wanderers star Raul Jimenez makes his long-awaited return to action on the first team on Saturday afternoon, eight months after undergoing emergency surgery on a broken skull in November 2020.
The 30-year-old suffered the terrible injury during his side’s clash with Arsenal on November 29, and he must be patient on his way to recovery, having been forced to miss the rest of the season due to the collision.
But Saturday’s friendship with Crewe Alexandra marks a special occasion for Wolves fans and their star strikers, after it was revealed that Jimenez would start his first match for the club since the horrific incident.
The Mexican star erases himself along with starlet Fabio Silva in attack, the man who tried to fill Jimenez’s boots during a difficult campaign for both the player and the team. The Wolves struggled to compete without the force of their talism upwards and slipped down the Premier League table to end up in 13th place.

It looked like coach Nuno Espirito Santo was leaving the club and triggered the arrival of new manager Bruno Lage. The team will be happy to have Jimenez at their disposal during the season, which gives the former Benfica plenty of time to build up match fitness before the new campaign.
And for Jimenez himself, it will be a great relief to step out on the field again, after suffering an injury that many feared would end his career too soon. The striker collided head-on with Arsenal star David Luiz five minutes into the match in November 2020 and had to be rushed to hospital due to his dangerous condition.
Fortunately, Jimenez recovered after some major surgery on his broken skull and even returned to light training towards the end of last season. He is now back in the Wolves starting lineup and ready to come back to score goals for his club.
