Wolves Secure Doyle’s Permanent Transfer as Dynamic Midfielder Departs Manchester City

Tommy Doyle recalls his departure from Man City and a thrilling opportunity at Wolves, now that his transfer to Molineux has become permanent.

Wolves exercised their option to secure the services of Tommy Doyle from Manchester City on a long-term basis. The 22-year-old midfielder, who had joined Wolves on loan earlier this season, has featured in 30 games across all competitions.

The move, which will come into effect on July 1, involved a reported fee of slightly under £5 million. Doyle has penned a four-year contract with Wolves, including an option for two additional years, committing to the Molineux outfit until at least 2028.

Having previously embarked on loan spells at Hamburg and Cardiff City, Doyle contributed to Sheffield United’s promotion from the Championship last campaign. Furthermore, he made seven appearances for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Addressing the deal, Wolves’ sporting director Matt Hobbs remarked, “We’ve never viewed Tommy as a mere loanee, and his demeanor reflects that. He has progressively earned more playing time and significance, making him a valuable asset to our midfield, a pivotal aspect of our club culture.”

Hobbs expressed confidence in Doyle’s future, asserting that the midfielder’s potential is far from being realized. Doyle, thrilled about his association with Wolves, reminisced about his time at Man City, expressing pride but looking forward to new experiences with his new club.

Wolves’ positive trajectory under Gary O’Neil’s management has left Doyle enthused, emphasizing the team’s progress and promising further contributions on his part. Reflecting on the club’s achievements and challenges, Doyle underscored the need to learn from setbacks and embrace the ongoing development.

As Wolves stand 11th in the Premier League with three fixtures remaining, Doyle, who has represented England up to the Under-21 level, is eager to continue his journey with the club. His enthusiasm for the next season mirrors his commitment to the team’s growth and success.
