The 19-year-old midfielder joins Venice after working his way up from the FC Dallas academy to the club’s senior team. Tessmann began to excel after winning the Golden Ball in 18 / Under 19 in 2019 after leading the club to the Academy Championship. The following year, he signed his first full contract and joined the list as a home-grown deal before the 2020 season.

“Ever since I came to the academy at the age of 14, FC Dallas developed me, honed my skills and made me a better young man. “I knew such an opportunity would be possible and it was always in my back, just because FC Dallas was there,” said Tessmann in a club statement.

“I am happy with this new experience. It will be a good trip. This is not a goodbye. It’s a ‘see you soon.’

Tessmann joins a newly promoted Venice, after the club won promotion to the Italian top level for the first time since the 2001/02 season. Venezia went through a period of bankruptcy while falling to Serie D before making a comeback. The club finished fifth in Serie B last year, reaching the playoffs in six teams and defeating all opponents to win the promotion.

The American player can be a good addition to the team, which provides valuable versatility in midfield and attack. Tessmann showed off his abilities after making his debut in February 2020 for FC Dallas and appearing for the club on 28 occasions.
