Surprising Addition: Kante Makes Headlines as Key Player in France’s Euro 2024 Selection

N’Golo Kante, who hasn’t played for France since 2022, was a surprising addition to France’s squad for Euro 2024. Despite the long absence, Kante, the Al Ittihad midfielder, made it to Didier Deschamps’ 26-man squad for the tournament in Germany.

The team boasts the likes of Kylian Mbappe, who might be heading to Real Madrid soon from PSG. Bradley Barcola, Mbappe’s teammate, also secures a spot in the squad for the first time.

Other notable members include Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, and William Saliba. Unfortunately, Bayern Munich’s Lucas Hernandez misses out due to an injury.

However, Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise are left out, despite their recent fitness recovery in the Premier League.

France is scheduled to play two friendlies against Luxembourg and Canada before facing Austria in their opening Euro 2024 match on June 17. They will also compete against the Netherlands and Poland in the group stage as they aim to regain the European Championships title they lost to Italy in 2020.
