Staying Focused: Spain Urged to Prioritize Football at Euro 2024 – Insights from De la Fuente

Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente is urging his team to stay focused on Euro 2024 amidst the turmoil at the RFEF.

Since the dismissal of former RFEF president Luis Rubiales, who was sacked after an incident involving an unsolicited kiss on Jenni Hermoso at the Women’s World Cup, trouble has continued to brew. Recently, Rubiales was arrested in an alleged corruption scandal, leading to further scrutiny on the organization.

Pedro Rocha, the proposed replacement for Rubiales, has also come under suspicion as part of the ongoing corruption investigation.

To navigate through these challenging times, the RFEF has appointed a special committee, headed by the esteemed Vicente del Bosque, to oversee matters until a new president is officially elected.

Despite the distractions and controversies, De la Fuente is adamant about keeping the team’s attention on the upcoming tournament, emphasizing the importance of concentrating solely on football matters.

He stresses the significance of focusing on controllable factors such as training facilities, camp arrangements, and performance on the pitch. In his view, success in the competition should be the team’s primary goal amidst all the surrounding noise and distractions.

Spain is set to kick off their Euro 2024 journey against Croatia in Group B, with tough matches against Italy and Albania also on the horizon.
