Southampton Dominates West Brom to Secure Play-off Final Showdown with Leeds United

Southampton crushed West Brom 3-1 in a riveting match at St. Mary’s, securing a slot in the Championship play-off final against Leeds United.

Leeds thrashed Norwich City 4-0 at Elland Road a day earlier, claiming their spot at Wembley, where they will face Southampton on May 26.

The first leg between Southampton and West Brom was a stalemate, but the Saints showed their superiority in the end.

Russell Martin’s team dominated possession in the first half, with David Brooks coming close to scoring, hitting the post.

Southampton took the lead with a strong finish by Will Smallbone early in the second half after a mistake by Gray Diangana.

Despite efforts from Furlong and Brooks, including a rejected penalty appeal, Southampton continued to control the game.

Adam Armstrong extended their lead with a well-placed shot past Palmer, then later scored a penalty following a foul on Manning.

Kipre’s late goal for West Brom was inconsequential, as Southampton sealed their victory in style.
