Sandro Tonali signs a permanent contract

Milan have confirmed that Sandro Tonali has signed a permanent contract with the club after spending last season on loan from Brescia.

The youngster failed to really cement his place in Milan’s first XI after arriving at the San Siro – and made just 17 starts in their 38 Serie A trips – although he proved to be a useful addition to the squad and got a lot of playing time during the club’s Europa League campaign.

Stefano Pioli has reportedly always been keen to make Tonali’s loan transfer permanent this summer, even though the move seemed to be in doubt after weeks of negotiations without any notice.

But the deal has now been confirmed with Milan taking to their official website to confirm the news, adding that the midfielder has signed a five-year deal at the club.

“Milan are very pleased to announce the signing of Sandro Tonali on a permanent transfer from Brescia Calcio,” the statement read. “The Italian midfielder will continue to wear the red and black jersey until June 30, 2026 after playing 37 games with Milan last season.”

There is still no word on the fee that Rossoneri has abolished for the young midfielder, although Calciomercato recently reported that a figure in the region 7 million euros (6 million euros) with 3 million euros (2.6 million euros) in addition. would be paid.

That report also claimed that Tonali would need to take a pay cut to secure a move to Milan, but again, no such details have been released yet.

Milan have wasted time strengthening their squad this summer, with Tonali already the third new face through the door.

Mike Maignan recently arrived from Ligue 1 champions Lille following the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer, while Fikayo Tomori’s deal has also been made permanent following his loan spell at Chelsea.
