Rennes ready to sell young star

Rennes are ready to sell the valuable asset Eduardo Camavinga before the end of the transfer window, 90 minutes have learned – with a number of top European clubs now struggling to secure his signature.

Camavinga is considered one of the best young players in Europe, but it was thought that after long talks he would stay in France for another season.

However, it has now emerged that the 18-year-old is available to move in this window, if Rennes receives an offer that they think is acceptable.

Earlier, the club had valued Camavinga at around 80 million pounds, which discouraged potential suitors from making a move. But with his contract expiring next summer and no new deals likely, Rennes have now decided to do business – and Camavinga may stop leaving for less than half the original price.

Camavinga’s agent is Jonathan Barnett, who is known for representing Gareth Bale, and he is evaluating the options now available for the teenage star. 90min has learned that close to half a dozen clubs have made it known that they would like to talk to him, including Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

PSG – who have gathered the right squad after taking in Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum this summer – feel they are leading the race for Camavinga and would like to make a deal quickly after already joining conversation with Rennes.

However, United and Liverpool are both in the mix, even though both clubs had previously thought that a deal was unattainable this summer. That is not the case now and they are very much a part of the conversations.

Chelsea also feel that there is a deal to be made. The Blues have been watching Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni, but even if they are still interested in signing him, the chance to land Camavinga is too much of an opportunity to miss.

Camavinga’s availability has surprised the English clubs, but all three are ready to discuss a deal that has already done background checks and extensive surveillance of the Frenchman.

Real Madrid are also in constant contact with Barnett, whom they know very well because of their dealings with Bale, and they are still committed to bringing Camavinga to the Spanish capital. Together with Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba, he is one of the three French players they have long planned to bring to the club in 2022 – despite their financial problems.

It remains to be seen if Real are able to make an offer to a player they have been interested in for over two years.
