Rashford persuaded Pogba to stay

Marcus Rashford is among a handful of senior Manchester United players who intend to try to convince Paul Pogba to stay at the club and sign a new contract.

Pogba’s existing contract expires at the end of this season, then he could leave as a free agent. Long-time fans of Real Madrid and Juventus would be keen on this scenario, while Paris Saint-Germain have been linked to a strategy this summer.

90 minutes have previously revealed that United officials are divided to move on with Pogba. Some are worried about losing him for nothing next summer, but others doubt he is worth keeping at the huge cost of a new contract worth £ 400,000 a week.

Pogba himself is in no hurry to decide his future and wants to assess all his options, without guarantee that he will sign a hugely lucrative United contract even if it is offered.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hoped to build his midfield around Pogba and Bruno Fernandes and it seems that United players do not want to see the Frenchman leave either.

According to The Sun, Rashford and several other big names in the United squad are trying to persuade Pogba to stay and commit his future to the club.

Pogba’s United colleagues believe that he is a world-class player who would be a great loss if he were to leave. He is also a locker room manager and is an important influence on the younger players.

The French broadcaster RMC has reported that PSG intends to “accelerate” its interest in Pogba and will ensure talks on a potential transfer. That interest is said to return by the player, while PSG could see Ander Herrera and Rafinha create additional space.
