Pulisic enjoys the first full pre-season

USMNT star Christian Pulisic is ready for his first full pre-season at Chelsea ahead of a huge 2021/22 campaign.

Pulisic agreed to join the Blues from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019 at the end of that season, but did not join the squad until the summer after the Gold Cup.

His preparations for the season before the 2020/21 season were hampered after he picked up an injury in their FA Cup final loss to Arsenal, and Pulisic said it is a huge boost to be able to have a whole summer of training behind him.

“I think it will be very positive for me, so I look forward to the start of the season,” Pulisic told Chelsea’s website ahead of their pre-season training camp in Ireland.

“This year is my first real full pre-season at Chelsea and it has only given me a good chance to get my full fitness and for me to be 100% fit and ready to play 90 minutes when the season starts. To hit the ground at the start of the season is, of course, the goal. “

Pulisic have already scored in Chelsea’s first season opener against Peterborough United in a friendly behind closed doors at their Cobham training ground and are keen to keep the Blues afloat after finishing last season as champions of Europe.

“It’s great to be back and see the guys again and get ready for a new season,” Pulisic said. “In a way, it’s a bit surreal, it’s starting to feel like, just right back to work, that kind of feeling, almost like it never happened.

“But it’s great to be back and see the guys again and get ready for a new season. It’s been really good so far. I think it’s been a good start, I’m starting to feel fit again and ready to go and I think the team looks good.

“We also had the match against Peterborough, so we started really well with winning and it was also a very strong performance.”
