predicted start XI against Dortmund

DFL-Supercup gives an early part of Der Klassiker this season, when DFB-Pokal winners Borussia Dortmund meet Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.

BVB enters the tie with a high mood, after getting their league campaign started with emphasis this weekend. Erling Haaland did twice when Marco Rose’s side ended with a 5-2 winner against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Robert Lewandowski also came on the points list in Bayern’s opening, although his only blow was just enough to serve the Bavarian giants 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach. So, in an effort to get back on a winning track, here’s the lineup Julian Nagelsmann can head out on Tuesday.

Manuel Neuer (GK) – Continues to demand the highest standards from both himself and his surroundings and will be captain of Bayern in a domestic Supercup for the fifth time.

Joshua Kimmich (RB) – Josip Stanisic did well on the right bank against Gladbach in Benjamin Pavard’s absence, although Nagelsmann was able to choose Kimmich’s proven quality to face Dortmund.

Dayot Upamecano (CB) – Did not have the easiest debut last time, but he has the gaffer’s confidence and will undoubtedly play a big role in the Bundesliga champions’ season.

Niklas Sule (CB) – Bergiga Sule should see much more action in Bayern’s backline with Jerome Boateng’s and David Alaba’s departures this summer and will probably collaborate with Upamecano again.

Alphonso Davies (LB) – One of the best attacking slopes on the planet, his exciting dynamics and energy have become a hallmark of this Bayern side.

Leon Goretzka (CM) – Although he is at his best when he plays with Kimmich in midfield, he is still an integral figure for this machine-like team and should be the principal in the engine room against BVB.

Corentin Tolisso (CM) – Despite the news that the Frenchman may be available for only 10 million euros this summer, he represents a good alternative for Nagelsmann to call and can start this one. Thomas Muller (AM) – One of the best at picking up place pockets and carrying out the murderous pass, Muller is crucial to the side and looks out of place when he is not in Bayern XI.

Leroy Sane (RW) – Electric in his day, but really needs to start being more clinical in the final third to become the world-class established winger he can be.Robert Lewandowski (ST) – There is no way Lewandowski will not start for Bayern. A record-breaking goal machine, he already has one this campaign and will make sure to add his speech by the middle of the week.Serge Gnabry (LW) – Can win a match on his own on his day, but he needs to be more consistent this season.
