A slightly different strict Real Madrid side could only play a 0-0 draw in the derby with Getafe on Sunday night, as Zinedine’s Zidane men failed to move to a point from La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.
The first half turned out to be pretty close in the end and even though neither side found a goal it was not to try. Among various other chances, Jaime Mata went into the post for the hosts and Mariano had an early goal criticized as a VAR check found that the striker has taken an offside position in the build-up.

Real struggled to create any clear chances after the interval and it was Getafe who came closest to breaking the deadlock. Thibaut Courtois was forced to a fantastic stop by Enes Unal, whose upper corner strike was tipped around the post, and Nemanja Maksimovic, whose deflected effort almost palmed over the crossbar of the imbalance and backed the Belgian goalkeeper.
Los Blancos kept up the goalless draw, keeping the others in La Liga – three points behind Atletico and just two above third-placed Barcelona, who have a game in hand. Now we’ll see how real players are rated.

Thibaut Courtois (GK) – 9/10 – Very commanding when the ball came somewhere near him and made several big (and some spectacular) saves.
Alvaro Odriozola (RB) – 6/10 – Struggled when he tried to limit Marc Cucurella but looked good to venture forward. Insert several good intersections and should have an assist to its name.
Eder Militao (CB) – 8/10 – Was very fast and strong to rush around the back to cover for his defensive teammates, made four ball recoveries and an impressive ten clearances.
Victor Chust (CB) – 6/10 – The “new Sergio Ramos” had a promising excursion. Very complex and effective in possession, while making seven interventions.
Marcelo (LB) – 6/10 – Did not have much impact in the future but managed well from intersections and made several good interventions on the back post.

Luka Modric (CM) – 6/10 – Sat deep all the time and played almost like a third midfielder to monitor his side’s activity and stop any gaps, which made a couple of important interventions.
Isco (CM) – 7/10 – Had a free role in the middle of the park but sometimes left his colleagues vulnerable because he failed to track. Played some great balls forward to release others, but maintained a passing accuracy of 89%.
Rodrygo (AM) – 5/10 – Seems sporadically threatening and creative, but most of his side’s attacking play came down on the flanks so the game went a bit past him.

Marco Asensio (RW) – 6/10 – Drifted infield a lot and was able to influence games as he stepped forward, registering two important passes and sometimes creating panic among opposition defenders.
Mariano (ST) – 6/10 – Showed a good movement when he aimed to run in behind. Unlucky when he was about an inch offside for his illicit strike and got a nod cleared by the line, but again failed to put his mark on the procedure.
Vinicius Junior (LW) – 6/10 – Drove quite well and became redundant on the ball most of the time, but managed to pick up some good spaces in and around the box without really threatening too much.
