New bid for Pau Torres

Tottenham are willing to increase their offer to Villarreal midfielder Pau Torres in an attempt to convince him to join the club.

Villarreal boss Unai Emery recently confirmed that the 24-year-old had turned down the chance to join Spurs, and his desire to play Champions League football is believed to be the main reason behind the decision.

Spurs have been in this boat already this summer, with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde who snubbed a move to the club for similar reasons, but they hope that this will end differently and AS (via Sport Witness) claims that they are preparing an improved offer .

A fee of € 55 million has been agreed with Villarreal, so it is only to be able to convince Torres to move, but Spurs know that they are facing an uphill as their first offer to the midfielder. was rejected without hesitation.

Spurs hope that some extra money on the table can change his mind, although Torres’ attitude seems clear: when he leaves Villarreal, he wants to join a team that plays Champions League football.

As a move for Torres seems unlikely, Spurs are considering other options to strengthen their back line and are talking to Fiorentina about a possible deal for West Ham goal Nikola Milenkovic.

The club is also interested in Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was one of Spurs’ earliest goals, but talks with the Japanese international have been diverted while director Fabio Paratici continues to explore other options.

Tomiyasu’s chances to move to Spurs may have taken a hit after the excellent performance from young Japhet Tanganga in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

The 22-year-old was a center-back on the pitch and was placed at right-back to deal with the threat from Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish, which gave an outstanding display as he strangled the expensive English pair on their way to victory.
