Man Utd transfer news: Leon Goretzka contract offer

Manchester United are rumored to have taken action against Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who could see the German international move to Old Trafford as a free agent next summer, possibly even as a replacement for Paul Pogba.

After moving to Munich as a free agent in 2018 after losing his contract with Schalke, Goretzka is without a contract with Bayern at the end of next season and can be on the move again without a transfer fee if he does not sign a new deal.

United are currently in a similar position with Pogba, whose contract expires next June. Discussions over a new contract have begun with the Frenchman’s agent, Mino Raiola, but Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested and Pogba is believed to be taking the time to give himself as many options as possible as he considers the next stage of his career. .

United officials are divided over whether to offer a new contract to Pogba. Some are worried about losing a valuable asset without a transfer fee next summer, while others are wondering if a contract worth around £ 400,000 a week is worth the investment.

If there is a fear of not getting a transfer fee if Pogba leaves, United can entertain selling this summer. Real Madrid and Juventus may not have the resources to place a bid, but PSG are tipping to make a strategy of 50 million euros this year.

United will have to replace Pogba at some point and if he goes as a free agent, it would make financial sense for the player who comes in to be a free agent as well.

It is Sport Bild in Germany that has reported United’s obvious interest in Goretzka, with claims of a “concrete” offer to switch to Manchester next summer. The proposed deal is said to be worth £ 200,000 a week, which is half of what United may have to pay Pogba to get him to stay.

However, Bayern are anxious for Goretzka to stay and are expected to try to tie him to a new contract that would remove that option from the table.
