Lozano Shatters Records as San Diego’s Inaugural Designated Player Signing

San Diego FC is thrilled to announce Hirving Lozano’s onboard as the inaugural Designated Player.

Lozano, who hails from Mexico, will join the squad on January 1, just in time for the team’s MLS debut. Until then, he remains with PSV through the end of 2024.

Having inked a four-year deal with an option for an additional two, Lozano is only the fourth signee at the club.

“Joining San Diego FC as its first designated player is a great honor,” Lozano remarked.

“Being integral to the birth of this club and aiming for MLS glory excites me. Wherever I’ve played, I’ve aimed to make a significant splash, and I plan to do the same here in San Diego,” he added.
