Alexander-Arnold had three years left to run on his previous deal, which he signed back in January 2019, but Liverpool went to their official website to confirm that he had been rewarded with a bumpy new contract.

Liverpool do not mention the length of Alexander-Arnold’s new contract, but even though the right-back later took to Twitter to confirm that he had signed until 2025.

Athletics’ James Pearce adds that this new deal was more about rewarding Alexander-Arnold financially, and he is now believed to be one of the club’s highest earners in the same brackets as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

“I am honored to have the opportunity and to show confidence in the club to get an extension, so it was a good idea for me,” said Alexander-Arnold.

“The state the club is in and where I am in my career is always a good alternative for me. Extending and making sure I’m here longer is always good. I’m wearing makeup.

“It’s the only club I’ve ever known, so it’s great for me and my family to be here during this time and extend to be here for a long time.

“It’s a proud moment for me – it always is – to sign a new contract here. Gaining the trust, as I said earlier, from the club and the staff is a great feeling. ”

Alexander-Arnold’s contract extension hopes to open the locks in Liverpool, where director Michael Edwards plans to sign contracts with Alisson, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Salah, Mane and Andy Robertson in the coming weeks.
