The Union go into the sport as leaders of the Eastern Conference, whereas the Dynamo are struggling within the West in eleventh place with simply 25 factors from 22 video games. Still, Curtin insists Philadelphia can’t underestimate their opponent with the Mexican nationwide group captain on their aspect.
“I think Hector Herrera, for quite some time, has been the best player Concacaf has had. He’s such a fantastic midfielder who can dominate the game in possession. He’s so comfortable and calm on the ball. Obviously has had an incredible career ,” Curtin said.
“He’s injected actual life into Houston’s lineup. Obviously has an enormous following and the followers will come out, I’m positive so much will come out in Philly to see him simply as a result of he is such an enormous star. I respect his sport a great deal.”
Herrera arrived in Houston in the offseason, after committing to the club through a pre-contract in March. Before joining Major League Soccer, the Mexican saw stints with Porto and Atletico Madrid and regularly competed in the Champions League.
Internationally, he has earned over 100 caps with El Tri, leading the team to several trophies.
Now his focus is on the Philadelphia Union as the Dynamo fight to climb the Western Conference table.
“With these nice gamers, you only do your greatest to restrict the time they’ve on the ball as a result of they’re so proficient they are going to damage you in some unspecified time in the future within the 90 minutes,” Curtin mentioned.
“We’re simply hoping it is in components of the sector that it would not damage us an excessive amount of. A particular participant and personally one among my favorites. It’s going to be a very robust check to play in opposition to him. He can type of begin their offense, he can get into the field late and rating. He hurts you in plenty of totally different methods and is a very proficient, particular participant.”
With ambitions to overtake LAFC in the Supporters’ Shield race, the Union cannot afford to lose. The Western Conference giants currently have 45 points from 21 games, while the Union trail with 42 from 21 games.
But after 4 straight wins, Philadelphia has what it takes.
“We need to return first within the east [and] LAFC is clearly the group to chase at once, Curtin mentioned. “But they’re not so far ahead of us that it’s unrealistic to say the words Supporters’ Shield. It’s not crazy. So we want to push and go for as many points as we can get. There’s still a lot of points to do.”
