Gatti Steps In as Scalvini’s Replacement for Euro 2024 Tournament

Giorgio Scalvini’s recent injury has knocked him out of Italy’s roster for Euro 2024. He sustained the injury during Atalanta’s season finale.

In the clash against Fiorentina, the Italian defender suffered a severe ACL tear. The match concluded with a 3-2 loss for Atalanta.

On Monday, Atalanta announced that Scalvini needs further medical assessments. Consequently, Italy’s coach, Luciano Spalletti, confirmed Scalvini’s absence from the upcoming squad.

Filling in for the sidelined player, Federico Gatti from Juventus will step in as a defensive substitute. This change follows Francesco Acerbi’s earlier withdrawal.

Gatti has donned the national jersey thrice, his latest cap being a November match against North Macedonia.
