Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes expects the club to challenge for trophies this season and explains that the squad has improved both in mentality and quality.
United have already signed Jadon Sancho since finishing second in the Premier League and losing in the Europa League final, with a deal for Raphael Varane also now very close.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side has made great progress since Fernandes first arrived in January 2020, with the Portuguese personally responsible for much of that improvement.
“I think, as always, we have a chance to win what we want, or wherever we try to win because I think last season was unfortunate for us, we must not win any trophies,” he said via BT Sport.
“We will reach the final of the Europa League but unfortunately we will not win. But still, with or without transfers, Manchester United will always be a tough opponent, we will try to win every competition we enter [in].
“I am proud of what we have done because of course we want to win trophies and we know we have the chance and we have the capacity to win trophies.
“But I see an improvement on the team, on the team mentality, on the quality of the team. And I think the team will improve more this season and we are getting better and better, day by day, and now this is a new season, a new chance to win something and to do something different. ”
Defeat against Villarreal on penalties in the Europa League final back in May ensured that United’s wait for a trophy since 2017 was extended to a fifth year. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired after winning the Premier League in 2012/13, the club has only won three trophies in eight years and counted.
