It is safe to say that the plans for a European Super League have not gone too well among fans around the world.
Supporters of teams not involved in the plans have been loud in their disgust, but perhaps most tellingly, those who are part of the Super League have come together to condemn the proposals.

“AST regrets the announcement by Arsenal that they are breaking away to form a European Super League,” wrote AST. “This represents death for all that football should be about.
“As fans, we want to see Arsenal play in competitions based on sporting merit and competitive balance. Not surprisingly, this action has been taken without consultation or dialogue, and continues the silence and contempt that Kroenke has shown to Arsenal supporters since day one.
“AST will do everything we can to oppose this. It will require firm action from the government and the football authorities. We urge all Arsenal fans and all football fans to combat this by speaking out and acting against it. By standing together we can see of this greedy proposal.
“AST will now work with the FSE, FSA and other fan groups in both Arsenal and throughout the game as opposed to this.”

“They say expect the unexpected, but today the Chelsea Supporters Trust (CST), our members and football fans around the world have experienced the ultimate betrayal,” the CST wrote.
“Chelsea Football Club (CFC) together with 11 of the best European sides have announced the intention to establish a” Super League “. This is a decision of greed to attach their pockets to the top and it has been taken without regard. For the loyal supporters , our history, our future for the future of football in this country.
“It is likely that this proposal has never arisen, but there is much to say that the CFC is prepared to risk our existence in the Premier League and FA Cup. CST has had extensive talks with the CFC in recent weeks on various issues and the secret proposal has CST and its members demand answers.
“This is unforgivable. It’s enough.”

“The Board of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust is deeply concerned about rapidly escalating reports linking Tottenham Hotspur Football Club with a breakthrough European Super League: a concept driven by cruelty and self-interest at the expense of the inherent values of the game we hold dear,” he said. “Together with fan groups in Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, we wholeheartedly oppose the transition to creating a closed shop for Europe’s elite.
“In our 2019 poll, 81% of the 4,302 Spurs fans supported THST’s stance against all closed European Super League, with only 3% disagreeing. We urge ENIC, the temporary guardians of our big club, to distance themselves. from all rebel groups, and to consider the consequences completely before making decisions that will fundamentally change the course of history for Tottenham Hotspur forever.

“Manchester City FC’s official supporter clubs are completely against anything that creates a breakout ‘European Super League’,” City OSC said. “The proposed new competition has no sporting merit and seems to be motivated by greed.
“In addition, it has been created without knowledge or input from any support groups and shows once again that those involved have no regard for the game’s traditions.
“We are determined to fight this proposed Super League and will once again work with the 1894 group all the other fan groups to do everything we can to make our voices heard.
“These owners, no matter where they come from, seem to think that football belongs to them – it does not belong to us – the supporters, no matter what team we support.”

“These proposals are completely unacceptable and will shock Manchester United fans, as well as those from many other clubs,” said MUST.
“A ‘Super League’ based on a closed shop of self-selected wealthy clubs goes against everything that football, and Manchester United, should stand for. To present these proposals without any consultation of fans, and in the midst of a global pandemic when people should draw together without serving their own selfish interests, only adding insult to injury.
