The 24-year-old has been the most sought after player in Indian football since his impressive time for DSK Shivajians back in 2016.

At the end of that season, Kumar got his first break in the Indian Super League with FC Pune City. In just his second senior appearance, Kumar scored his first ISL goal against ATK (now ATK Mohun Bagan) in front of his home crowd.

Since then he has had stints at Hyderabad FC and Kerala Blasters FC.

The former India Under 19 star has now made the biggest step in his professional career with Bengaluru FC.

“I am very excited to sign with Bengaluru FC and the challenges ahead,” Kumar told ISL’s official website after completing his transfer to the former champions on Tuesday.

“This is a club that most footballers in the country want to be a part of, so getting this opportunity is special. I look forward to experiencing all the good things I have heard about BFC, and I am keen to play my role in achieving success with this team and for the fans. “

Speaking of his move to the Blues, head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli expressed his delight at having Kumar as an important part of his side for the 2021-22 ISL season.

“I would like to welcome Rohit to Bengaluru FC. He is a young and hard working footballer who I think will play his part in our season starting soon. As a coach I am happy to have him at the club and I wish him every success. “Sa Pezzaiuoli.

Rohit has predominantly proved to be a defensive midfielder in each of his former clubs. His skill on the ball and agility to eavesdrop on opposition attacks make him an important signing for Bengaluru FC who will secure winning the Indian Super League for the second time in its history in the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Time will tell if Kumar will be able to break through the star-studded Bengaluru FC series in the next campaign, but there is no doubt that the Blues have a quality player.
