Autumn matches against Paraguay and South Korea

The U.S. women’s national team will play one of its four remaining fall games at Sporting Kansas City’s Children’s Mercy Park, the club has announced.

Although not the result they were finally looking for, the USWNT left the Tokyo Olympics with a bronze medal and beat Australia 4-3 to take a place on the podium.

Vlatko Andonovski’s side now has two matches against Paraguay coming in September. The first will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, September 16, while the second will be USWNT’s first ever match at FC Cincinnati’s brand new TQL Stadium on Tuesday, September 21.

And in October, USWNT will host the Republic of Korea at Children’s Mercy Park on Thursday the 21st before traveling to Minnesota United’s Allianz Field to face the same opponent on Tuesday the 26th.

All four matches will feature members of this summer’s bronze medal team, while giving fans one last chance to glimpse Carli Lloyd in an American costume. The 39-year-old is second on the all-time list for USWNT hats with 312 and fourth for goals with 128, but recently announced that she would stop playing at the end of the current NWSL season.

“The work never stops and every match we play makes sense,” head coach Andonovski said of the upcoming matches. “These games are important to welcome back our Olympic team to play in front of our home fans, but they are also the first steps towards the qualifiers for the World Cup 2023. We all know that we must be at the top of our game to win the highest the levels and the whole group’s commitment to that endeavor will never change. ”

Considering the opportunity to play in his hometown, Andonovski added: “I am so excited to have the American women’s national team in Kansas City. It’s a great city. It will be an incredible opportunity for the team to play in front of these fans. They create a great atmosphere. ”

USWNT – which is still at the top of FIFA’s world rankings – is so far undefeated in Kansas City, winning five and making three of its eight appearances there.
