Arsenal have confirmed that new signing Gio Queiroz will be a part of Everton on mortgage throughout the 2022/23 WSL marketing campaign.
The winger joined the Gunners from Barcelona on switch deadline day, changing into Arsenal’s third new arrival of the summer season following the signings of Lina Hurtig and Kaylan Marckese.
The 19-year-old is Everton’s tenth new signing of the switch window – half of which has been on mortgage – as Brian Sorensen begins to construct his new squad.
Jess Park, Katja Snoeijs, Emily Ramsey, Sara Holmgaard, Karen Holmgaard, Katrine Veje, Clare Wheeler, Aggie Beever-Jones and Elise Stenevik have all signed for the Toffees this summer season forward of Sorensen’s debut season in cost.
“Gio is an exciting prospect and we believe she has great potential,” says Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall. “We will be closely monitoring her development this season and look forward to seeing her progress.”
Gio joined Barcelona from Madrid CFF in 2020, earlier than spending the 2021/22 season on mortgage at Levante, scoring 11 targets in 31 video games.
The teenager has been capped 12 instances by Brazil at worldwide stage and was a part of Brazil’s squad that reached the quarter-finals on the Tokyo Olympics and received the 2022 Copa America.
“We have been monitoring Gio for some time and are delighted to have brought her to Arsenal,” mentioned Arsenal’s director of ladies’s soccer, Clare Wheatley. “She will now spend time on loan to continue her development and adapt to English football. We are confident that her time on loan will provide her with valuable experience at this stage of her development.”
