Arsenal sign Nikita Parris from Lyon

Arsenal are on the verge of securing the signing of Nikita Parris after reaching an agreement with Lyon.

The English-speaking international has made her trade on board since leaving Manchester City in 2019. Her transfer to French football has proved successful, noting a memorable treble during her first season with Lyon including the Women’s Champions League.

After two years of the English game, Sky Sports reports that Parris will talk Women’s Super League again after Arsenal agreed on terms with Lyon.

The 27-year-old has already had talks with the Gunners and personal terms between the two parties have been agreed, which means that only a medical will stand in the way of her being officially appointed an Arsenal player.

Parris is already back in England before the aforementioned medical, which means that it may take a few days before the move is rubber-stamped.

The report adds that Parris is “excited about a potential return to play in the WSL after a successful period in France with Lyon”.

Despite a glittering stay in France, the English international was hit by the fact that they missed the league 1 titles in a row on the last day of the 2020/21 season after Paris-Saint German was crowned French champion.

PSG also opposed Lyons’ attempt to secure back-to-back Women’s Champions League titles after Olivier Echouafin’s side advanced to the semi-finals on away goals from their clash in the final eight stages of the 2020/21 competition.

Although she failed to add to her medal collection last season, Parris can leave French football with her head held high after scoring an impressive 31 goals in 47 games in all competitions.

Pending medical attention, she will now add the Gunners’ front line as they look to regain their WSL title from Chelsea, who have won both of the last two seasons.
