Ajex releases 2021/22 third kit as a tribute to Bob Marley

Ajax have released their Bob Marley-inspired third kit for the 2021/22 season.

The strip is a tribute to Marley’s Three Little Birds which has been adopted by the club’s fans as their unofficial anthem.

This project was brought together by Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading global trading company, which collaborated with the late singer’s family.

The shirt is black with red, yellow and green details. This is a nod to the colors of the Rastafarian movement that Marley aroused international recognition throughout her life. On the back of the shirt are three birds: one red, one yellow and one green.

The shorts have a similar design. The appearance of the Amsterdam Andreas Cross on the socks is emphasized.

The range also includes a training top, training pants, sweater, t-shirt and Samba shoes. Sambas comes from football but has become a global fashion icon in itself. With stripes in red, yellow and green, the shoes also have the Ajax crest on the shoe’s tongue and the three small birds on Amsterdam’s Andreas cross on the heel flap.

Cedella Marley said she was pleased that her father’s legacy was honored by the club.

“I’m unmoved that Ajax have taken Three Little Birds and made it their anthem. Stories like this warm my heart and show how powerful songs like Three Little Birds can be. Football was everything to my father … and using his words “football is freedom”. “

The story of Ajax, Marley and the Three Little Birds began in August 2008, when the club played a friendly against Cardiff City. Those traveling from Amsterdam were asked to stay in the stands after the match.

Several Ajax players helped model the new kit

To entertain them, the stadium -DJ played several tracks, one of which was Three Little Birds. The fans immediately embraced the song as their own and have sung it at every match since.

If you like the look of the range, it is available to buy from August 20 from adidas webshop.
