six kidnappers allegedly lynched by the population

In the eastern DRC, North Kivu, six young people accused of kidnapping a three-year-old child were lynched last Sunday. Facts confirmed by the provincial governor, Carly Kasivita. This happened in Kitshanga, in Masisi. The people of this rural municipality, condemning the inefficiency of the police, continued to lynch these alleged hostages.

as reported from Kinshasa,Commander Muzembe Commander

The day after their arrest, these youths, aged 20 to 22, were torn from the hands of the police by an angry mob, which prevented them from being taken to the capital of the Masisi area to be put on trial. And despite the warning shots, the population, most certainly, managed to lynch the alleged kidnappers until death ensued.

Victims of mob justice, these young people would have belonged to a group of eight men, two of whom fled when they were arrested. This group is believed to have abducted a three-year-old girl before demanding a ransom of $ 10,000. Very common practice in the sector.

But the perpetrators of these repeated kidnappings, the president of the local civil society explains, have always benefited from some assistance from law enforcement officials who release them only a few days after their arrest. For Robby Kahanga, this popular justice is due to the fact that the people have lost confidence in law enforcement officials and in justice.
