On Tuesday night, Céni posted the first semi-preliminary results of the first round of the October 18 presidential election. The announced figures relate to only 4 constituencies in the country, out of a total of 38. And in these 4 constituencies, the outgoing president Alpha Condé is in the lead.

Matoto, Matam, Kaloum, in the region of Conakry and Boffa, in the region of Boké: in each of these constituencies the outgoing president has a head start, according to the results published by the electoral commission. 56.69% in Boffa for example, 51.87% in Kaloum, the capital of the capital … One by one the president of the Céni Cabinet Cissé stated the numbers: number of offices, number of registered, voters … He congratulated the voters for their calm and their “bourgeois spirit”.

UFDG makes its own account

For its part, the opposition party UFDG continues its own rally despite Céni and Cédéao’s warnings. UFDG’s vice president, Fadé Oussou Fofana, says he has collected approx. 3/4 of the minutes from the 15,000 polling stations in the country.

“A far-fetched statement, the minutes are not in their possession,” says a source in Ceni. The results would have been reported via SMS and then automatically aggregated in a database.

It would mainly miss the upper Guinea, the stronghold of the party’s power, where the opposition claims not to have had access to the results. In dispute, she said, about a ruling by the Constitutional Court handed down two days before the vote.

It remains to be seen whether the documents in its possession will be recognized by the courts in the event of a dispute. “We have the same system,” says a source close to electricity. If it works, just wait for the official results ”

Other results are expected soon

The Election Commission continues to centralize the reports in the interior of the country and promises to publish other results in the coming days. “Ceni will continue to proclaim the partial preliminary results when and when they are received.” And urges the population to “calm down”. The opposition condemns the “substitution operations” of the results.

Early on Tuesday night, a strong police presence was dispatched around Cellou Dalein Diallo’s home. In Conakry, residents of neighborhoods considered favorable to the opposition heard gunfire all night.
