His cell was searched, documents were seized and telephone jammers were installed.

On May 25, Marafa Hamidou Yaya’s cell was ransacked , and documents concerning his defense were seized. Telephone jammers have also been installed in this prison located in the State Secretariat for Defense, where he has been held since 2012.

On the American list of political prisoners

Access rights are restricted to children and lawyers, and military surveillance is strengthened. Sentenced to twenty years in prison, the former Minister of State for Territorial Administration has never given up on running for the presidency of Cameroon.

In this perspective, he is the darling of the Americans , who put him on their list of political prisoners.

A few months after his conviction, Robert P. Jackson, then United States ambassador in Yaounde, had visited him.

And on May 17, the current ambassador, Peter Henry Barlerin , suggested to Paul Biya to “think” about the image he would leave for future generations.
