Four Guinean opponents – key leaders of Cellou Dalein Diallo’s UFDG who have been imprisoned for several months – will benefit from this supervised provisional release this Saturday, July 17th. Arrested in November 2020, a few weeks after the presidential election contested by the opposition and part of civil society, these four major officials in the main opposition party are granted terms.

The main condition is not to leave the capital Conakry without the prior permission of the prison administration.

They had all been in hospital for various health problems for several weeks, in a hospital in Guinea’s capital. They will normally return to their respective homes this Saturday.

Ibrahima Chérif Bah, Abdoulaye Bah, Cellou Baldé and Ousmane Gaoual Diallo were charged with, among other things, “disrupting the state through destruction and looting, attacking the republic’s institutions, participating in a rebellious movement, spreading and providing others with data likely to disrupt public order.” , accuses their defense of qualifying as misleading and purely imaginary.The date of their trial is currently unknown.

Opponent Etienne Soropogui and several hundred activists remain in prison, according to the opposition.
