Mohamed Bazoum appoints Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou

The new Prime Minister of Niger is known, it is Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, a man in seraglio by ex-president Issoufou Mahamadou. He has been a member of the PNDS Political Bureau for thirty years. He will direct the actions of the future government, which will be appointed in a few days.

Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, 66, has a master’s degree in economics, a doctorate in management and business administration, in addition to a doctorate in accounting.

Faithful to former President Issoufou

Internationally, he held in particular the post of Deputy Secretary General for the Financial Management of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). At the political level, Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou is a member of the PNDS, a party in power since its inception in 1990. He has been elected twice to the National Assembly. From 1991 to 1993 he was Minister of Mines, Energy and Industry, then Minister of Finance from 2011 to 2012.

He is faithful among the faithful of President Mahamadou Issoufou and has a perfect knowledge of all the most important issues in the 7th Republic. His membership in the inner circle of power makes him an essential man, even within the PNDS party. Originally from the Tahoua region, the Mahamadou Issoufou indigenous region, he led the last election campaign in this area, where the PNDS received more than 932,000 votes, thus opening the Republic’s presidency to Mohamed Bazoum.
