Kick-off of compiling outcomes

After the count, it is now time to compile the results. For this, Céni has set up its operations center at the Palais des Congrès in Niamey. It is only after receipt and verification that it gradually shows the preliminary results.

With our special envoy to Niamey, Magali Lagrange

Start of compilation, which makes it possible to proclaim and communicate the preliminary results presidential and legislative elections in Niger was given on Monday, December 28, with a slight delay. It is therefore the beginning of a long process, called “election night”, which begins and will last for several days.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Céni) has therefore installed in the Palais des Congrès in Niamey, a preparation of results. There are fax phones downstairs with technicians and commissioners receiving calls and documents from the eight regions of the country.

The results are gradually sent via fax and e-mail, after which CENI checks them and publishes them. They are then broadcast in real time on national radio and television. Representatives of political parties are also present at the Palais des congrès to follow the operations as closely as possible.

By noon we could already hear the phone ringing, a sign that the results are coming slowly after long work at the local and then regional level. There is no specific date for publishing the president’s results, the preparation of the results will take some time, at least several days.
