The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, concluded on Monday, January 11, 2021, a two-day visit to his counterpart Denis Sassou-Nguesso in Congo-Brazzaville, with whom he discussed the security situation in his own country, in the Central African Republic, Cameroon. and Niger.

The presidents of the two Congos were concerned about developments in the security situation in the eastern DRC. This situation is characterized by activism of armed groups and loss of human life. They strongly condemned the criminal acts committed in this area and called for dialogue as in the Central African Republic, noting the preliminary results of the last election. The crimes committed by terrorists against civilians in Cameroon and Niger were also condemned by the two leaders.
Fifth visit to Congo-Brazzaville
They also welcomed the vaccination campaigns against Covid-19 around the world. In addition to imported vaccines, local products should not be overlooked, according to President Félix Tshisekedi.
“We have already received suggestions from our partners. The vaccine is a must. But we also favor curative treatment. I think we have two products that, in any case, promise the first results they show. These are Congolese products. We want to promote it. The vaccine is a necessary step that makes it possible to curb infection, ”he said.
The visit of the DRC President was the fifth of its kind at its nearest neighbor since joining in early 2019.
